Martial Arts vs. Martial Sports

First off, I’m going to say that it’s impossible to find a particular video that wouldn’t illicit any ill feelings towards any style when it comes to the topic of martial arts. So here’s the best I can do for this particular topic:
Let me just give a brief overview on the video. It’s Kyokushin Karate vs. San Shou (Shorin-ken) but it’s not world class fighters fighting, but 11 year olds battling it out. I wanted to show this because if you really watch them, the kids fully envelop their styles and move so naturally within it. Sometimes, kids like these show a better understanding and application of the basics of martial arts rather than more experienced fighters.
To which I want to lead into the main topic of this post, the difference between learning Martial Arts or Martial Sports. With the great boom of interest towards MMA with the help of UFC and WEC, are we seeing the end of the appreciation of traditionally taught martial arts?

Alright look, sure, he was the King of Pop – and his music has influenced today’s songs as well as many of the singers but yoooo.
Seriously? I received 13 texts and 4 IMs stating his passing away. Hell, even Obama didn’t get this much press or word of mouth when he became president. Hah.
Anyways, Mike. Peace. No more problem where you are, you’ll be in our hearts and our playlists. Thanks again for the great and awesome songs that you contributed and goodbye.

don’t these colors look great? do you think i would spend any time picking them out? of course not. and you don’t want to think about colors either. you’re putting together a website for some god awful company run by a man in suspenders. meanwhile you’re trying to tell him that he needs more unique hits, but he’s only concerned that obama is going to take away his television. pictaculous has a great new color tool to work with, allowing you to look at the dominant colors you’ll be needing when matching flat color swatches to a photograph. simple color brochures, website buttons and even posterwork could benefit from this… (more…)

it is time. banky, possible the world’s greatest anonymous street artist, is having a show in the UK. apparently he’ll be showing around 100 pieces, most of which have not been seen before, and he’ll be reworking the museum to his liking. banksy has also worked a good amount of animatronics into the show, something i didn’t see coming. hit the jump for some photos.
